1) Reine Kamerafirmwareverbesserungen:- allow RAW/Fx button to toggle between two sets of User modes switchable from the mode dial (adding a
- second set U4, U5 and U6)
- option to allow saving three separate DNG files for an HDR instead of one combined
- provide option for user to calibrate electronic level if needed
- option to display chosen focus point as overlay to photo playback on display
- option to have the built-in flash trigger wirelessly off camera flashes in PTTL HSS (not do HSS itself, but trigger the other one into HSS)
- bring back the two picture synopsis from the K-5I
- allow user to switch video SR between software SR and hardware SR (like K-5)
- allow user to choose focus peaking color (now: white)
- allow user to choose between MJPEG and AVCHD
- allow locking/unlocking the backside buttons by pressing "ok" button for 3 seconds
- allow user to ignore automatic limitations on SR use (e.g. SR is switched off for 2 second timer shots and others)
- offer aperture bracketing mode
- offer focus bracketing mode (n pictures, m size focus advance steps)
- support USB 3 wired tethering with allowing remote manual stepwise focus adjustments
- option to display RAW histogram instead of JPG histogram
- option to allow choosing any shutter speed when in M mode with flash or flash trigger attached on hot shoe
- bring back the extended bracketing options from the K-5 series
- allow option to block shutter if SR is not ready yet
- allow user to switch AF drive between SDM and screwdrive for SDM lenses
- option to display timer in large on backside display for both self-timer modes, interval shooting and exposure times beyond 1 sec
- provide option to choose maximum/longest shutter time in AutoISO freely (not just a few options)
- option to display ETTR headroom on backside display (that is how much more you could expose the correct exposed picture without clipping to white; this picture would then be overexposed but could be corrected in post processing; based on RAW histogram)
- allow user to set longest shutter time when using slow sync flash mode (currently goes up without limits)
- provide option to zoom in to focus point chosen when displaying picture on backside display, not always center of picture
- allow user to switch off info menu intermediary step (no more two clicks plus control pad to switch off)
- allow Software-focus-limiter for macro lenses (or all lenses)
- allow focus peaking during video capture (not only before)
- allow microphone input level control during video (not only before)
- user setting to choose size of autofocus points (large, medium, small) for cross type autofocus sensors. Where "large" is the current default state.
- allow AF-Correction for Zoom lenses in 3 step (close/medium distances/far)
- allow option to have mirror up on 10sec timer just as it is on 2sec timer
- allow non-open-aperture-metering with non-A-lenses, so that using them in Av-mode does not require pressing the green button any longer. For Av mode simply do not let the camera automatically open up the aperture fully, but instead leave the aperture as it is (set by the aperture ring).
- allow user to switch between SD cards to writo onto via press of a button (configurable button, at least Raw/Fx).
- allow advanced matrix metering variants which do to target 18% grey but a ETTR logic with user choice of maximum % of pixels to clip in highlights. Default should be 1% and other options should include 0%, 0,1%, 0,25%, 0,5%, 1%, 2%, 5%. Suboption to define this overall or by RGB channel.
- option to display current focal length in the backside display, especially for zooms
- bring back the underexposure clipping display / zebras from the K-5
- allow more customization of the autofocus in AF.C to include (reference the options in a Canon 5D3): acceleration of adjusting focus (how quickly focus will be adjusted from near to far); following/tracking of AF points when the subject is being handed over from one AF point to another
- automated support for AF adjustments. The camera could shoot automated picture series of 21 pictures, each one with a plus one adjustement starting from -10 up to +10. User could select how many shots to be fired at one stage (e.g. 1-10 shots each). The camera should also automatically unfocus to one extreme position after each shot. This is what users today do and it is a pain to do manually.
- add option for multiexposure to use a mode "dark"
- allow a maximum of 7 or even 9 instead of only 5 bracketing shots.
- option to automatically tilt the selected AF point depending on landscape/portrait orientation of the camera
- option to drive AF to target hyperfocal distance (yes, this would require the camera to calculate subject distance a little bit more precise.
- add menu option to define one stable underlying exposure compensation level as user preset. This then would be applied in addition to the normal exposure compensation to allow users who always want a darker exposure to still have the "normal" exposure compensation to be set at zero.
- improved focus distance data in the metadata / exifs
- Open source API for firmware
- Live bulb like Olympus has
- increase maximum possible steps for bracketing from +/- 2 to +/- 3
- allow all camera settings to be saved by the user to a xml/txt file stored on the SD card and to load/import it later.
- allow user to import lens correction data into the camera (e.g. for legacy glass) and describe file format for this and/or offer PC software to define it. maybe build on Adobe lens correction profile editor
- Crop mode: user definable per lens
- Extend autofocus fine correction range to +/-12 or more.
- allow option to have mirror up after each shot in an interval shooting series. Or just leave the mirror up all the time then.
- Option to have smaller, reduced resolution Raw-files (s-Raw and m-Raw similar to Canon).
- Option to have time lag between the four Pixelshift shots increased to 0,5-1 second and then trigger flashes for each (to allow flash recycling and make use of pixelshift in studio)
- Option to do bracketing using the electronic shutter
- allow selecting longer shutter times than 30 seconds up to 1 hour
- allow user to freely choose self timer delay between 2 seconds and 1 minute
- option to continue writing JPGs to SD card #2 after switching from RAW+ to JPG
- Support aperture automation with old K and M type lenses (no need to alter hardware, just firmware)
How:
1) Once the camera user attaches a new lens without contacts the camera asks if it is a new unknown lens or one already stored (displays stored lenses overview if required)
1a1) if already stored load data from memory (or sd card) after displaying a list of sored lenses and selecting it.
1a2) display message to user to turn aperture control ring on lens to maximum F-Number
1b1) if unknown ask for focal length, maximum and minimum apertures (choose from list)
1b2) ask for user to input lens name to save in memory or on sd card
1b3) display message to user:
"turn aperture control ring so that aperture is closed as far as possible (F16+)" and "place camera with lens anywhere with a constant lighting setting" and "press ok to continue"
1b4) once user presses ok the camera meters the light influx with the aperture control motor pushing the aperture lever fully open
1b5) following this the camera step by step stops down the lens using the aperture control motor (using 10-20 steps) and after each steps meters again. This way the camera learns the exact position of the aperture lever for each meter reading. Some of the positions will be full stop positions (that is each position where the meter reading compared to the known fully open metering differs so much). The whole process should not take longer than a second or two.
1b6) the camera saves to data into memory or on sd card
2) from here on the user can choose aperture freely using the camera control wheels and use full functionality just like with A-type Pentax lenses, as the camera now knows exactly how far to push the aperture lever to set it to a certain aperture setting.
Memory should hold at least 20 slots of lens data.
2) Hardwareverbesserungen Kamera:- add proximity sensor to backside of camera near viewfinder to allow switching off the display when the face of the user is near. Add to option parameters to firmware: 1. nearness when to switch off 2. delay how long to keep the display off after user has moved back.
