There are many photographers in this forum. You are one of the artists. Each picture You show is an artwork at the finest. Thanks for joining us.
Hello
pentidur,
Your comment is very complimentary, and I thank you for it, but I do not consider myself an artist in the sense that I have not contributed anything to Art. I take photos for myself above all, because I like them (sometimes not really), but mostly to freeze a moment, a memory, to thwart my failing memory.
Photography for me is like some who fish: I watch for the right time to hook the right image, the right framing, the right light sometimes, the unforeseen rarely. It's also a way of getting away from it all while being present.
The material really doesn't matter. I could have taken the same images with other brands of cameras. Only here, I already had my Leica optics. But Pentax optics (especially the Limited series for its compactness) are of excellent quality. Even more so, the K-1 camera, for someone who uses manual optics, is the best of the digital SLR cameras. The Pentax camera is unique and I could keep it forever.
As my eyesight wanes and EVF cameras start, IMHO, to become qualitative, I opted for a Panasonic DC-S1. So, I have two excellent cameras, very different for sometimes different uses, but complementary at the same time. And as I work with these two cameras indifferently, I opted for the Cobalt Image profil (C. Métairie does it better in France but I had already set my sights on Cobalt), in order to standardize the images, in color or in B&W. Moreover, these profiles allow for much more subtle nuances. I mainly work on Repro profiles, which require more work but which are so much more qualitative.
Because of the Covid19, overworked, I had great difficulty finding inspiration, this desire to shoot. But the pleasure of holding the Pentax in hand, the flexibility of use of the Panasonic DC-S1, these four days of vacation (for 2 years) with one of my brothers who lives in the Basque Country, partially made up for it with me, the pleasure of seizing these moments.
Best regards.
