would you believe in the seventies I lived in Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham, just down the A68 from Edinburgh. During my holidays (I had been working for the Rediffusion Company in St. Helen's Auckland) I went to tour Scotland many a time, from the westcoast to the central highlands. I still have so many places in very good memory. I love Scotland and could return to visit right away.
I have been to Scotland in 1985 for a 3 week hiking tour by feet. I remember nearly 3 weeks rain in lonely beautiful landscapes on Skye and in The Highlands, very friendly people (e. g. drove us with an ambulance and a Police Land rover to a Community Center where we could dry our clothes and have a shower in a school which had been unlocked only for us). Once I will be there again!
Quite some folks replied with a nice wee story about their previous visits to Scotland or did mention their future travel plans, if anyone likes some assistance with travel plans or ideas ..perhaps just recommendations ..well anything regarding the above just drop me a wee line as I'm more than happy to help.
