I’m going to share my expectation of what the initial camera will be like. I think they are going to go for a camera that is at the cheap end of expectations.
- The exterior will be made of plastic, but the mechanical parts inside will be metal.
- The design will be rather similar in shape to the MX-1 digital compact from ten years ago. Obviously, there needs to be a small viewfinder and the film winder added.
- There will be plenty of design details that call back to vintage Pentax models, especially in details like the name and classic font of the lettering.
- The built-in lens will not be high-end on the first model. It might be criticized as toylike.
- It might be half frame.
- It will have the simplest microprocessor they can get away with to handle exposure and be mainly manual.
- It will be around 350 USD. So basically a small step up from Instax.
- Pentax will target stores that have not carried Pentax products in the past.
- It will come in uncharacteristically fun packaging, not the conservative grey boxes.
- There may be a tricked out version of it with brass top and bottom plates, possibly under the J-Limited brand for a premium.
- As much as possible will be designed in such a way that parts of it can be shared with the second compact camera and mechanical SLR.
This is basically what I expect from reading between the lines of the videos, online/magazine articles and what I’ve heard at events, as well as thinking of the track record of the person leading this initiative. I don’t have any insider information.
Bernd hatte ja oben schon etwas geschrieben bzgl. Marktplazierung. Ich befürchte da werden viele sehr enttäuscht sein.

Eure alten Kameras würde ich keinesfalls "entsorgen". Sie werden jedes Jahr steigen in der Wertschätzung.
