Da bin ja mal gespannt, wie sich das Irix 2.4/15 gegen das neue Samyang 2.4/14 schlägt.

Das war nach den Testfotos, die Du neulich verlinkt hattest, schon zu befürchten.

Unfortunately the small front element combined with good aperture fastness for this angle of view makes itself felt. As a result you get one of the highest vignetting values we’ve seen in our tests so far. At the maximum relative aperture it amounts to as much as 72% (−3.64 EV) and deserves to be called monstrous. The f/2.8 aperture is equally weak, with a result of 66% (−3.10 EV). Even by f/4.0 you still deal with a high level of that aberration as it gets to 48% (−1.87 EV).

Also by f/5.6 and f/8.0 you won’t have any problems with noticing the vignetting in photos - the results we got are, respectively, 40% (−1.46 EV) and 36% (−1.28 EV). You can approach the moderate levels by applying f/11 and f/16, with the brightness loss being 30% (−1.04 EV) and 27% (−0.93 EV) respectively. As you see even on very significant stopping down you cannot get rid of that aberration completely."

Dagegen heisst es zur Verzeichnung:

"Let’s start with checking how the direct rivals performed in this category. The performance of the Samyang 14 mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC could be described only as a huge catastrophe. Already on the smaller APS-C/DX sensor the level of distortion got to a very high value of −5.44%. On full frame the result amounted to −7.21% but if not for distinct moustache distortion it would be definitely closer to −10%.

The test of the Canon EF 14 mm f/2.8 USM II proved that even with such parameters you can correct distortion sensibly well without introducing moustache deformations. On the smaller APS-C sensor its result was −1.23%, and it increased to −3.18% on full frame.

The Irix compares to the Canon favourably and when you stack it up against the Samyang, its performance seems pretty brilliant. It is clear the constructors cared about good distortion correction and they did a splendid job. On the smaller APS-C/DX sensor we got small barrel variety, amounting to −0.50%. On full frame that value increased to −2.68% but still it is better than the distortion of noticeably more expensive Canon."

Bestätigt letztlich die Erkenntnis, dass eine gute Verzeichnungskorrektur meist zu Lasten der Vignettierung geht und umgekehrt.

Die Vignette ist (offen) so stark wie die beim Sigma 35 Art. Da würde ich mir weniger sorgen machen.

In dem "Test" kein Wort zur Vignettierung. Damit disqualifiziert sich ephotozine selbst.

Stimmt - war eigentlich überall Thema. Auf den Bildern sieht man aber auch kaum was.

P.S.: Die Linse wird dort recht stark beworben ...

Irix hat auf Nachfrage mitgeteilt, dass die Pentax-Version seit Freitag erhältlich ist. Filter kommen wohl zum Jahresende.
